Abstracción

Mar Alcón

Abstract sculpture seeks to convey a sensory and visual experience beyond literal representation. Artists may use a variety of techniques and materials, such as carving, modelling, welding, construction or assemblage, to create abstract sculptures.

In abstraction sculpture, forms may be simplified, stylised or fragmented. Artists may focus on the interaction of forms and spaces, experimentation with different textures and materials, or the creation of geometric structures and dynamic volumes.

These sculptures often invite the personal and subjective interpretation of the viewer, as they are not tied to a recognisable representation of the physical world. Each person may perceive and experience abstraction sculpture in a unique way, according to his or her own sensibility and context.

Famous sculptors associated with abstraction sculpture include Constantin Brancusi, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Alexander Calder and Louise Bourgeois, among others. These artists have explored and pushed the boundaries of sculpture by creating abstract and expressive forms.
