Marina Speer
This German artist, born in Munich (1996) and resident in Lanzarote, graduated in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, later continuing her training in artistic illustration at the Escuela Minúscula in Madrid. This has allowed her to develop an interesting and creative line of production as an editorial illustrator for projects and publications in Akane Ediciones, Editorial Adarve or Editorial Neo.
She has participated in various group exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad, including the projects “Dialoge” at the Kunstverein Villingen-Schwenningen or -Diversitas Animae” at the Galerie im Turm in Donaueschingen. Her latest collaboration has been in the exhibition Traspatio” together with Cintia Machín, Lana Corujo, Mariela Martín Darío Machín, curated by Marianna Amorim.
In her most recent artistic work we can find a poetic reading associated with putting the focus on places and territories of the island that seem to be located on the margins, in which she stops her discovering gaze. There is in these works a natural desire to configure an atmosphere or a visual narrative that, in an unprejudiced, everyday and close way, invites us to stop in front of those pieces of the island landscape that, in one way or another, we have passed through in our domestic routines and that now form part of our cultural and emotional imaginary: an itinerary of spaces located outside the typical conventional frames in which we recognise ourselves and that flee from the aesthetic clichés of Lanzarote’s tourist iconography.
