Cecilia Escandón

Ana Cecilia Escandón Román was born in Mexico City (1969). At the age of 12 she discovered photography as an effective means of expression, documenting her life and the lives of others and sharing her surroundings. From then until now she has shown others the magic of places and people.
Self-portrait is what she likes to do most, being a method of self-healing and personal exploration, showing first of all the positive and negative aspects of herself.

From that moment until today, Cecilia and photography have never been separated. She studied a degree in Information Sciences and Techniques together with her studies in photography at the Escuela Activa de Fotografía, always taking workshops in different places to renew herself.
She later obtained a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art in Mexico. For the last 24 years she has been in charge of the Escuela Activa de Fotografía Campus Echegaray.

She has participated as a photographer in various International Congresses in Greece, Israel, Argentina; she has led photographic trips with students of the School of Photography and fellow photographers in different parts of the country, such as Nepal.
She has exhibited in several important galleries in Mexico City and other states of the Republic, Chiapas, Durango, Saltillo such as Salón Los Ángeles, Galería Moreno, Galería Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Salón de la plástica mexicana, Instituto Cultural México Israelí and many other galleries and renowned restaurants, Starbucks, La Malinche.
She has published several nature books together with renowned photographers.
She was a photographer for Next top model Mexico.
She continuously studies and participates in different workshops related to art and photography to keep learning.
She has attended many trips in and out of the country with important photographers.
She worked for the Government of Chiapas in 2017 in photography.
She does personal sessions, families, pets, travels and documents.
I work as an individual and group portrait photographer in schools from kindergarten to high school.
She has participated in professional magazines such as México Desconocido, Mi bebé y yo, Pura Sangre, (pets) Cuarto Obscuro.

His forte is portraits of people and pets, documentaries, nudes, wildlife, landscapes and self-portraits.

She has won several national and international competitions and has been published in foreign books.
She recently exhibited at the Gallery in Los Angeles, California.
She currently teaches at the Activa de Echegaray and has been the director of the Activa School of Photography for 24 years and teaches the subject of portraiture.
