Pilar Sagarra Moor
BIOGRAPHY Pilar Sagarra was born in Zaragoza and developed her artistic work in Madrid. Until her youth, she spent her summer holidays in the countryside with her seven siblings, her parents and her maternal grandparents. Her experiences in complete freedom left a deep imprint on her subconscious and her inner world was strengthened in the solitude of those places. From childhood, at school and later in her teaching career, Pilar Sagarra excelled in artistic drawing and this was the seed that would give her the confidence to take on her dedication to art. Drawings and engravings by Pilar Sagarra are kept in the Museo del dibujo Castillo de Larrés (Huesca) and in the Gabinete de estampas of the National Library of Spain, as well as in several Municipal Councils and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid. A stay of several months in Munich – as well as his time in Greece – marked his future as an artist. She attended the Círculo de Bella Artes and continued her training, studying and researching in a self-taught way, as at this time her generous motherhood of seven children would occupy her life. Pilar Sagarra was a fighter and devoted herself to her vocation. She later completed her studies in the Brita Prinz workshops. With Professor José Rincón she developed intaglio engraving and additive techniques, as well as with Alicia Diaz Rynaldi photogravure on polymer, woodcut with Miguel Villarino and lithography with Juan Pablo Villalpando. His work is influenced by Pier Bonnard, Matisse, Anglada Camarasa, Yayoi Kusama, Ai Weiwei, A. Albacete. Those stays in the countryside will be reflected throughout his artistic creation in the different series: “SENSACIONES”, “ESPACIOS ENIGMATICOS” and “ALEGRIA DE VIVIR”. Each one with its own concept and characteristics, in intimate connection with Nature and a common thread: sensitivity and passion for colour. In the mid eighties she began to exhibit individually in many Spanish cities. At the same time she was selected and awarded prizes in important competitions.
